The small eatery that fits maybe 30 people was packed but a table opened up for us right as we walked up to the door where the hostess greeted and seated my good friend, Marian, and me.
The eatery is a dark, cramped hole-in-the-wall with a marble counter that seats about 10 with five tiny tables on the perimeter. From every seat in the house you can see the flames from under the wok leaping up to sear in all the flavors of your particular dish.
We ordered spicy cashew chicken and fat noodles with shrimp, both of which came with steamed white rice.
The flavors of the dishes really seemed to pop due to the fresh ingredients. I couldn’t seem to stop eating those tasty dishes even after I realized I was full. It really was that good!
Nothing on the menu is more than $7. Though Thai Tom has no shortage of people who are willing to wait, many wish this gem would or could expand. That would’ve cut down on the line down the block waiting to get into the family-run eatery.
I was getting ready for my first trip to Seattle, so a friend of mine Jen Cieslak told me that the food at Thai Tom’s was as good as it gets.
