Charlie Palmer’s-Bloomingdale’s

One of the highlights of our meal at Charlie Palmer's-Bloomingale's in South Coast Plaza.

I met two good friends to try out Charlie Palmer’s on a Friday night in January. As you walk into the restaurant, the beautifully furnished and roomy dining room made an immediate impression.

We decided to try a bunch of small dishes instead of ordering an entree for the variety and to keep the meal from making a hole in our wallets.

We ordered the Roasted Heirloom Beet and Blue Cheese Salad, a tray of Kobe Beef Sliders (they were so good that we got another order of the trio of burgers), Shrimp A La Plancha with romesco sauce and Crispy Three Cheese Risotto Cakes with chirizo aioli.

Then along with coffee we had the Vanilla Braised Pineapple for dessert which included toasted coconut cake, tapioca coriander caramel and vanilla bean ice cream. Essentially, a deconstructed pineapple upside down cake with vanilla ice cream. Delicious.

I loved the kobe beef sliders and the crispy three cheese risotto cakes.
