Ram’s malai ka ladoo (cream cheese balls)

20130825-185259.jpg
My Dad created this recipe in 1971 after finding only savory recipes featuring cream cheese. Dad wanted something sweet so he invented this. It’s been popular in our family ever since.

What you need:
8 oz package of cream cheese, softened
1 cup of dry nonfat milk
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 cup dry coconut flakes

What you do:
1. Combine cream cheese, dry milk, sugar and vanilla to form a soft dough.
2. Roll out 1-inch balls
3. Spread the coconut in a shallow dish and roll the balls in the coconut to cover all sides of the balls.
4. Place balls onto a platter or shallow dish. Make sure they are not touching. Refrigerate the balls overnight until they firm up.
5. Enjoy!!
